Our Mission
Urban Tails is dedicated to improving the lives of animals in need through adoption, advocacy and community programs. By advocating for their welfare and strengthening the connection between people and pets, we cultivate a community of passionate and responsible pet ownership.
Our Vision
We hope to see a world where every animal is always valued, protected, and cherished. By providing vital support and accessible resources to the community, we strive to change the way people engage in animal welfare and advocacy.
COMMUNITY RESOURCES
Urban Tails Community Program
Our Community program is our latest leap forward - crafted to empower every pet parent in Ontario with the resources, knowledge, and community support they need to ensure their pets live their best lives right at home.
Our vision is simple but bold: transform animal welfare by making sure every pet owner has access to top-tier resources and support.
We’re tackling the root causes that lead to pets being surrendered, with a proactive approach centred on education and accessibility. From free training events and counselling to pet food banks and access to care, our Community Hub is here for pets and their people.
WAYS YOU CAN HELP
We Need your Support
Donate
Urban Tails Animal Rescue is a Registered Canadian Charity that is completely volunteer run, meaning all monetary donations made to the rescue are used for our rescue efforts and for the care of the animals currently in foster homes with us. No donation is too small. *Note that any donation of $20 or more is eligible for a tax receipt. Please email us to request.
Foster
Fostering is a great opportunity for you to be involved in the rescue process, without the full commitment of owning a dog or cat. Don’t get us wrong, fostering is still a commitment! Fosters may need refreshers in house training, basic training, socialization, medical rest, confidence building and other special attention to get them ready for adoption, however, you will be rewarded with lots of cuddles, unconditional love and kisses from your new pal.
Adopt
Adopting an animal and saving a life is one of the most rewarding feelings in the world. If you see an animal that you’re interested in adopting, we encourage you to apply. There is a bit of a process, but we’ll walk you through it.
Volunteer
Urban Tails Animal Rescue is 100% volunteer run and without your help, we are unable to do what we do. Want to get involved but you’re not sure how? We’re always looking for volunteers who can assist with a variety of things.

RESCUE CIRCLE CLUB
Join the Rescue Circle by becoming a monthly sponsor
When you become a monthly donor, you receive exclusive access to rescue photos and videos of animals currently in care. You’ll also get a behind-the-scenes look into our day-to-day rescue work and more.
We have not received government funding to date and rely solely on donations from the public to continue operations. As an ethical rescue, we only take on as much as our resources will allow us. This means, if we are short on funds, we stop intake, which directly affects our rescue partners and animals in need.
Costs vary for rescue animals in our care. For example, care costs (primarily medical bills) can range from a few hundred dollars to $1000-10,000 for just one dog depending on their needs. By becoming a monthly sponsor, you help to alleviate one of our biggest challenges: financial hardship.
